Meaning

The Tower is abrupt. Something built on an assumption that was never quite true meets the moment the assumption fails, and it comes down faster than anyone expected. The shock is real, and so is the clarity that follows it.

The card is rarely about the event alone. It is about what the event reveals — the crack that was always there, the thing everybody half-knew and nobody said. Afterwards it is very difficult to go back to not knowing.

What gets rebuilt tends to be sounder, because it is built on what is actually the case rather than on what was convenient to believe.

Reversed

Reversed, The Tower can describe a collapse held off. Repairs are being made to something that needs replacing, and each round of repair costs more than the last. Choosing the change yourself is easier than having it chosen for you.

It can also mean you are in the aftermath rather than the fall. The loud part is over, the ground is bare, and the work now is the unglamorous business of clearing up and deciding what to put here instead.

Reversed Tarot Cards: How to Read Them

The Tower in relationships

In relationships, The Tower can mark a truth spoken that cannot be unspoken, or an assumption failing. It is uncomfortable and often clarifying. What is rebuilt afterwards, if it is rebuilt, rests on something more honest.

The Tower in work

At work, The Tower suits an abrupt change: a plan canceled, a restructure, a project revealed to be unworkable. React to the situation as it is now rather than the one you prepared for. Salvage what is genuinely reusable and let the rest go.

Advice

Do not rebuild it exactly as it was; that shape is what gave way.
