Minor Arcana Tarot Cards

The Minor Arcana are the 56 suit cards of the 78-card Rider–Waite–Smith Tarot deck, divided into Wands, Cups, Swords, and Pentacles. While the 22 Major Arcana point to broader life themes, these cards reflect everyday actions, emotions, thoughts, and practical matters. Choose a card from the grid below to read its upright and reversed meanings, or explore a suit.

How the 56 Minor Arcana Cards Work

Each of the four suits contains 14 cards: Ace through Ten plus four court cards: Page, Knight, Queen, and King. In traditional Rider–Waite–Smith readings, Wands relate to action and initiative, Cups to emotions and relationships, Swords to thought and conflict, and Pentacles to material and practical matters.

These meanings are symbolic interpretations rather than fixed predictions about your future. How a card reads depends on your question, its position in a spread, and the nearby cards, and a reversed card does not automatically mean a bad outcome. Select any card above to see its imagery and detailed upright and reversed interpretations, or open a single suit to compare its 14 cards side by side.
